uMhlanga Promenade and Beaches update – clean-up efforts underway

Despite the recent challenging weather conditions, including high seas and rainfall, we are glad to report that there has been no damage to the infrastructure along the uMhlanga Promenade. Our dedicated teams together with teams from the eThekwini Municipality Parks Department have sprung swiftly into action and clean-up of the large amounts of debris from the beaches has begun. They are working together to ensure the area is restored to good condition.

Over the subsequent high tide cycles, we expect more debris to wash ashore, and as such our cleanup efforts will diligently continue to manage this ongoing challenge.

For safety reasons, authorities have closed the uMhlanga beaches since yesterday, 17th September 2023, due to the rough sea conditions. We urge everyone to adhere to this precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all locals and visitors.

We will provide updates on the cleanup efforts and any changes in beach access.
