Launched last November, the Forest Café (powered by Bike & Bean) celebrates its six-month birthday this month.
Located at the northern end of the uMhlanga forest boardwalk, Forest Café has sold 4382 coffees since opening its doors to the public. General manager Massimo Galassi owes this success to a beautiful environment and the amazing support from the uMhlanga community.
The Forest Café offers a unique coffee shop experience within the uMhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve. Besides receiving the many coffee enthusiasts who frequent the café, daily wildlife visitors include a three-legged monkey, mongoose, duiker and beautiful birdlife. Massimo says the café offers the best sunrises for the early morning coffee drinkers.
The uMhlanga Forest Boardwalk is a community-funded project managed by the uMhlanga UIP. The Forest Café was once a derelict ablution revamped by the UIP to add a new attraction to the area and stimulate enterprise development.
The first 250m of the boardwalk is complete but there is still 750m to be built. The UIP calls on all businesses and the community to keep supporting this initiative that has added tremendous value to the precinct.
