Sewage Overflow Cause Of Smell In uMhlanga Lagoon

The foul odour that has been eminating from the uMhlanga Lagoon over the last few days is as a result of a sewage overflow that has been traced to a faulty pump station in Waterloo.

According the Municipality’s Waste Water department, a defective pump is the cause of the overflow into the river, which feeds into the uMhlanga Lagoon, and the manager at the station is currently working on fixing the problem.

The UIP will be following up on the repair process and will keep the community informed.
