Matric Rage 2018 kicks off on 30th November and runs until 7th December.

Important contact information during this period includes:

  • The UIP 24/7 control room: 086 111 2050
  • Red Frogs: 060 733 3764 or 0732996706 (Mitch Thomson – uMhlanga leader) OR @RedFrogsSA
  • Rage website: https://ragefestival.co.za

This year the official Rage events will be held at the Sound Factory located at The Grass Farm in Compensation (Ballito) for 5 nights with a Super Club set-up at Sibaya for 2 nights. While it is estimated approximately 4 000 matric students expected to be “resident” in uMhlanga Rocks, the only venue being utilised in uMhlanga Rocks as an after-party venue is Raffles in MacCausland Cres.

The UIP management of Rage-goers in uMhlanga Rocks is part of a collective operational plan with Rage organisers G&G Productions; The Red Frogs; Marshall Security; SAPS; Metro Police; Crisis Medical, and Netcare 911. Key deliverables of this plan include:

  • Key duty of security officers will be to appropriately manage students once they leave the venues to reduce noise in public areas, stop anti-social behaviour, vandalism etc.
  • All public area security officers are managed by the UIP management structure – including the 5 additional special events security officers funded by G&G Productions, with resourcing incl:
  • High capacity Security Manager based in Umhlanga supported by Grade A supervisors 24hrs
  • 24-hour manned control room on the Village Green
  • Patrol vehicle permanently based within the UIP precincts
  • Golf cart patrol for the promenade
  • All security officers integrated on one radio frequency
  • Security officer resourcing incl: 18 officers on day shift and 25 on night shift

The UIP, G&G Productions, SAPS and the Red Frogs support network are the key stakeholders to ensuring a safe and fun rage that does not negatively impact on uMhlanga Rocks, its user groups, property owners or various other stakeholders.
