From daily beach cleaning to infrastructure coordination and upgrades, Aprilβs cleaning, greening and maintenance (CGM) operations in uMhlanga reflect a continued focus on keeping the precinct tidy, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.
Over 700 Refuse Bags Cleared
Both uMhlanga beaches remained open throughout the month, with good water quality and clean conditions. Ongoing daily cleaning by the eThekwini Parks Department and the UUIP beach cleaners ensured the coastline stayed in excellent condition. In total, over 700 refuse bags were removed from the beaches and Promenade.
Sewage Issues, Water & Landscaping Managed Efficiently
Minor sewage spills were reported during the month and addressed promptly. Close coordination with the eTM Sewage Department continues to play an important role in reducing repair turnaround times and ensuring minimal disruption. No irrigation issues were reported during the month.

All grassed areas within UIP-managed zones were cut and maintained, keeping public spaces neat, accessible and visually appealing.
M4 Clean-Up: 42 Bags Removed
Targeted cleaning operations along the M4 corridor proved effective, with additional resources deployed to support these efforts. A total of 42 refuse bags were removed, and all stormwater drains were cleared, improving flow and reducing the risk of blockages.
Promenade Improvements Begin
Work commenced on the burnt-out deck along the Promenade as well as the Forest Boardwalk extension this month, marking important upgrades to key public spaces that will enhance the overall visitor experience along the Promenade.

These continued efforts ensure uMhlanga remains a clean, functional and attractive coastal precinct
