Our top 4 health tips to adopt this February!

If you’re feeling guilty about not yet getting a handle on those New Year’s healthy lifestyle goals, stop right there, give yourself a hug and whip out that sweat band. With these great tips to get you on track, today can be your day!

Tip 1 – Look no further than the uMhlanga Promenade – We are blessed with one of the most scenic running tracks in the world, a flat, clean, safe 2.5km promenade, with water stops and toilets all along its length. And with the UIP ensuring the space caters to your furry fitness buddy, why not bring your pooch along to soak up the Indian Ocean views.  So many pro’s – no more excuses!

Tip 2 – Watch what you eat – While exercise is integral to getting your body healthy and in shape, what you put into it is more important. Avoid an excess of sugary and processed foods, go for fresh fruits and vegetables and if you are eating out, choose the range of health options on almost every menu. Check out the list of eateries in uMhlanga Rocks under the Eateries tab of the A-Z directory on the uMhlanga Rocks APP and plan your healthy social life.

Tip 3 – Breath and Stretch – Deep concentrated breathing and taking time to stretch can do wonders for rejuvenating the mind and body. Yoga is also great if you’re looking to get toned or if you want to lose weight. Regular yoga is also great for increased flexibility and improves respiration, energy and overall vitality. There are great yoga studios in uMhlanga Rocks that you can check out by going to the  A-Z tab within the uMhlanga Area APP and clicking on Sports / Gyms/ Clubs!

Tip 4 – uMhlanga Park Run – If you need some peer pressure to help you get fit you have to try the global Park Run movement. And where better to enjoy a social exercise session than on the uMhlanga Promenade with the uMhlanga Park Run. Every Saturday at 7:30 am join fellow walkers and runners on the grass area above the Whalebone Pier to tick that weekend exercise box. And did we mention its FREE? Visit http://www.parkrun.co.za/umhlanga/ for all the details.
