Full volume and duration:

  • The area of the pour, which needs to be continuous, consists of an area of ±1000 m² of two deck thicknesses of 420 mm and 2500 mm
  • The total volume of concrete is estimated to be ±1480m³ at a pump rate of 48m³/hour
  • Placing of concrete which will be continued without any stops for ±24 hours
  • Producing a power floated finish will take ±6 hours from placing of the last concrete pour

Sound / Noise volume expectancy

  • Noise from the works will surely be produced but the contractor will try to keep certain sounds volume down to a minimum

Traffic control

  • Traffic will be managed by a supervisor at the gate to direct traffic when the trucks enter and leave the site

To put these numbers into context each concrete mixer holds 6 m³ which equates to 246 trucks that will enter through uMhlanga onto the Oceans site over a 24-hour period, hence the decision to start in the evening to try and have as little impact on the traffic as possible.
