Nationwide Peaceful Restaurant Demonstration

The restaurant industry intends holding a nationwide peaceful demonstration on the 22nd of July from 12h00 – 14h00 by placing tables and chairs on the pavements and roadways in front of their establishments. The purpose is to highlight the significant economic impact the national lockdown has had on the Food and Beverage Sector.

SAPS National and local are aware of the intended demonstration. SAPS has advised the UIP that no authority for the proposed action has been granted as yet, particularly the intention to place tables and chairs on the street itself and have requested the UIP to advise business owners that the blocking of the street surface is illegal unless permission is granted by the authorities.
