March brought sustained rainfall to uMhlanga, presenting a number of operational challenges. In response, the uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) teams remained focused on ensuring the precinct remains clean, well-maintained, and safe for residents and visitors alike.
Drain Inspections and Beach Clean-Ups
All stormwater drains across the precinct were inspected and cleared of debris where necessary. This proactive approach helps reduce flooding risks and ensures proper drainage during periods of heavy rain.
The rain also resulted in significant debris being washed onto the beaches. Daily clean-ups by the UIP beach team have ensured that the coastline remains safe, clean, and accessible.

Landscaping and Irrigation Repairs
Despite weather-related challenges, grass-cutting across the precinct was completed, and bush clearing along the Promenade has kept pathways clear and public areas looking tidy.
Two water leaks at the Pier were repaired by the UIP. Following these repairs, promenade paving was reinstated, ensuring that pathways remain even, accessible, and safe for pedestrians.

Promenade and Precinct Updates
Renovations at the site of the new Surfriders restaurant, outside Cabana Beach, are underway. Speed fencing has been installed around the work area to ensure the safety of pedestrians using the Promenade. On Lagoon Drive (northbound), a temporary road closure was required to safely erect a crane for the ongoing construction of the second Oceans tower.

Looking Ahead
The UIP will continue its daily operations into April with a focus on maintaining infrastructure, responding to service requests, and supporting the precinct through active monitoring and upkeep.
We thank all service providers, operational staff, and community members for their support in helping uMhlanga remain a safe and attractive destination on the North Coast.
