This past weekend, a giraffe appeared on Lagoon Drive, nibbling the trees in front of a large concrete wall. Undaunted by curious onlookers, the giraffe seems to have made uMhlanga Rocks its’ home, and we welcome it to our neighbourhood.
This is, of course not a real giraffe, but a piece of urban art created by Urbanloveza, an urban art movement that uses various street art disciplines to transform dull and forgotten areas into visual art that is both engaging and appreciated by bringing self expression into the public space.
Using a process known as reverse graffiti, or clean tagging, dust tagging, grime writing, green graffiti or clean advertising, the Urbanloveza team creates creating semi permanent images on walls or other surfaces by essentially removing dirt – no paints, no chemicals.
Thank-you for our giraffe!
