As we move through August, the uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) has been hard at work maintaining and enhancing the green spaces and infrastructure across our precinct. Our commitment to keeping uMhlanga beautiful and well-maintained is evident in the various cleaning, greening, and maintenance activities carried out over the past few weeks. Here’s a comprehensive update on the efforts that have taken place this month.
Landscaping and Grass Cutting Across Key Areas
Our dedicated team has ensured that all landscaping throughout the precinct is up to standard. Over the past two weeks, we’ve focused on various areas, including Durban View, Villa Pax, Long Beach, the Pier Grass area, Main Beach, Bronze Beach, and Hawaan. The grass in these locations has been meticulously cut and maintained, contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal and usability of our public spaces.
One of the significant undertakings this month has been the clean-up efforts along the M4. The recent clean-ups have made a noticeable difference, particularly with the additional work completed towards the Ohlanga River. The UIP will continue to maintain these efforts, ensuring that the area remains clean and free from vagrant occupation under low vegetation. The western side of the M4, in particular, has been cut back, significantly improving the area’s appearance and safety.
Garden Pruning in Preparation for Spring
In addition to our regular maintenance, we’ve also been busy preparing our gardens for the upcoming spring season. Pruning has been done across the precinct to ensure that our gardens are in perfect condition to welcome the vibrant blooms of spring. This proactive care will help our green spaces flourish, creating even more beautiful and inviting areas for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Additional Landscaping and Bollard Maintenance
Beyond the regular landscaping, additional efforts have been made in areas between the hotels and the M4. Our team has not only been maintaining the vegetation but also painting bollards to enhance the look and feel of these spaces. For instance, the bollards between the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Oyster Box Hotel have been given a fresh coat of paint, further adding to the charm of this iconic stretch.
As always, the UIP is committed to sustaining these efforts and continuously improving the uMhlanga precinct. We understand the importance of these green spaces to our residents and visitors, and we remain dedicated to maintaining them at the highest standard.
