The uMhlanga precinct continues to benefit from consistent cleaning and maintenance operations, ensuring a clean, safe and well-managed environment for residents and visitors.
Both beaches remained open throughout the month, maintaining consistently good water quality and clean conditions. Daily cleaning by Parks and UIP beach cleaners resulted in approximately 500 refuse bags being removed from the beaches and promenade. All grass cutting within UIP-managed areas was completed.

Sewage, Roads & Stormwater Managed Efficiently
Minor sewage spills were reported during the month and addressed promptly. In total, three sewage-related issues were logged, attended to and resolved. All roads within the precinct were inspected, with cases logged where required to ensure follow-through on maintenance and repairs. Stormwater systems were checked and maintained to support effective drainage.
M4 Clean-Up: 60 Bags Removed & Drains Cleared
Additional resources were deployed for targeted cleaning operations along the M4 corridor, resulting in the removal of over 60 bags of refuse. All stormwater drains were cleared, improving water flow and reducing the risk of blockages.
Nature Trail Update
The reopening of the Breakers Deck has been an exciting development this month. A sincere thank you to Coastal Engineering and eThekwini Municipality for their valuable support and assistance in bringing this project to completion.

Unfortunately, the uMhlanga Nature Trail remains temporarily closed due to structural damage to the estuary bridge. Safety assessments are underway, and updates will be provided as progress is made. Meanwhile, the Boardwalk extension steps to the estuary are nearing completion, marking a positive upgrade to the precinctβs recreational offering.

This monthβs outcomes reflect the value of proactive maintenance, regular inspections and coordinated service delivery.
