Residents and businesses in the uMhlanga Rocks precinct are advised of a planned water shutdown that may result in temporary water supply interruptions on Tuesday, 14 July 2026 between 1am on 14 July and approximately 1am on 15 July.
Reason for Shutdown
eThekwini Water and Sanitation will be carrying out essential repairs to an 800mm steel pipeline in Hippo Park Avenue (Point E). To safely complete this work, the Northern Aqueduct will be isolated.
Impact on uMhlanga
The uMhlanga area is supplied by reservoirs connected to this system, including:
β’ Umhlanga North Reservoir
β’ Umhlanga South Reservoir
β’ Umhlanga 2 Reservoir
As a result, water supply interruptions are expected across the precinct during the shutdown period. Residents and businesses are strongly encouraged to store sufficient water ahead of the shutdown, use water sparingly where possible and plan accordingly for the 24-hour interruption period.
Please note that once repairs are completed, water supply will be restored progressively as reservoirs refill. Some areas may experience delays before full pressure is restored.Β For further enquiries, contact eThekwini Water and Sanitation Contact Centre: 080 311 1111, eservices@durban.gov.za
