The next batch of number plate recognition cameras have been installed at the southern end of Forest Drive and Ridge road with another two sites still to come. The cameras pick up vehicle number plates and run them against the SAPS and local uMhlanga ‘hot-lists’ of stolen / suspicious vehicles. If either database recognises the number the UIP Security control room is alerted and will respond accordingly. With the installation of the last two cameras, the UIP will cover all entry points into uMhlanga Rocks, allowing for a more proactive approach to safety and security.
