Key maintenance activities included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ongoing grass cutting and verge maintenance across UIP-managed areas.<\/li>\n<li>Routine garden maintenance and landscaping.<\/li>\n<li>Over 400 refuse bags were removed from the beaches and promenade this month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Operational teams also responded quickly to service issues by reporting water leaks, sewer blockages, and pump failures and ensuring they were addressed promptly in coordination with municipal teams.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-21373\" src=\"https:\/\/umhlangauip.co.za\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/UUIP-Greening-on-Promenade-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/umhlangauip.co.za\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/UUIP-Greening-on-Promenade-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/umhlangauip.co.za\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/UUIP-Greening-on-Promenade-600x450.png 600w, https:\/\/umhlangauip.co.za\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/UUIP-Greening-on-Promenade-768x576.png 768w, https:\/\/umhlangauip.co.za\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/UUIP-Greening-on-Promenade.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Additional Cleaners Deployed and 40 bags removed from M4<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Environmental care remains a core component of the UIP\u2019s work, with sustained efforts to enhance and protect the precinct\u2019s green spaces. As such, alien invasive plant removal programmes were carried out along the promenade (before moving to different areas), and the landscaping teams continued with scheduled maintenance of gardens and green spaces. An additional forest cleaner was appointed, and two additional cleaners were deployed to the M4, where over 40 bags of rubbish were removed and all drains were cleared of debris.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Visible Policing Supports a Safe Environment<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Ongoing collaboration with Metro Police and SAPS ensured strong visibility and presence throughout the precinct. High visibility patrols continued across key public areas, and the new Coastal Tourism Policing Unit remained active along the beachfront, with positive community feedback.
