{"id":20953,"date":"2025-04-29T05:51:01","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T03:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umhlangauip.co.za\/site\/?p=20953"},"modified":"2025-04-29T05:51:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-29T03:51:01","slug":"april-progress-infrastructure-repairs-beach-maintenance-and-new-attractions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umhlangauip.co.za\/site\/april-progress-infrastructure-repairs-beach-maintenance-and-new-attractions\/","title":{"rendered":"April progress: Infrastructure repairs, beach maintenance and new attractions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"562\" data-end=\"858\">April has been marked by strong collaboration between the <strong data-start=\"620\" data-end=\"665\">uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP)<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"667\" data-end=\"699\">eThekwini Municipality (eTM)<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"732\">third-party contractors<\/strong>, helping to maintain, enhance, and safeguard the precinct\u2019s public spaces during a period of heavy rains and high activity.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"860\" data-end=\"929\"><strong data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"927\">McCausland Crescent Pumpstation Repair and Beach Management<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"931\" data-end=\"1245\">A major development this month was the <strong data-start=\"970\" data-end=\"1020\">failure of the McCausland Crescent pumpstation<\/strong>, which resulted in a <strong data-start=\"1042\" data-end=\"1086\">temporary one-day closure of the beaches<\/strong> as a precautionary measure. Thanks to the swift response from <strong data-start=\"1149\" data-end=\"1175\">eThekwini Municipality<\/strong>, the issue was quickly resolved, allowing beaches to reopen safely.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1247\" data-end=\"1433\">Despite ongoing heavy rains and seasonal tides, daily cleaning by the <strong data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1340\">UIP and Parks teams<\/strong> has ensured that the beaches remain clean, safe, and accessible to residents and visitors.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1435\" data-end=\"1488\"><strong data-start=\"1439\" data-end=\"1486\">Surfriders Restaurant Construction Progress<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1490\" data-end=\"1798\">The <strong data-start=\"1494\" data-end=\"1543\">construction of the new Surfriders restaurant<\/strong> on the Promenade at the Cabanas continues to make good progress, with the anticipated opening now <strong data-start=\"1642\" data-end=\"1673\">set for the end of May 2025<\/strong>. This addition is expected to further enhance the Promenade\u2019s appeal and attract even more foot traffic to the beachfront.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1800\" data-end=\"1836\"><strong data-start=\"1804\" data-end=\"1834\">Pier Colour Lights Upgrade<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1838\" data-end=\"2174\">Adding a splash of colour and vibrancy to the precinct, <strong data-start=\"1894\" data-end=\"1962\">Coastal Engineering completed upgrades to the Pier colour lights<\/strong> this month. The improvements not only contribute to the <strong data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2036\">visual appeal<\/strong> of the Promenade but also enhance its attractiveness during evening hours, offering residents and visitors a more dynamic public space.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2176\" data-end=\"2233\"><strong data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2231\">Metro Police Precinct Handover Nears Completion<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2235\" data-end=\"2610\">In a significant step forward for public safety, the <strong data-start=\"2288\" data-end=\"2360\">handover of the old clinic building on Village Green to Metro Police<\/strong> is scheduled to be finalised by <strong data-start=\"2393\" data-end=\"2407\">1 May 2025<\/strong>. Installation of <strong data-start=\"2425\" data-end=\"2443\">security doors<\/strong> is currently underway. Once operational, this facility will bolster <strong data-start=\"2512\" data-end=\"2555\">law enforcement visibility and capacity<\/strong> in the area, supporting a safer environment for all.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2235\" data-end=\"2610\"><strong data-start=\"2220\" data-end=\"2258\">New Digital Feature in the Village<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2262\" data-end=\"2523\">Adding to the evolving urban landscape,<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong data-start=\"2302\" data-end=\"2326\">a new digital screen<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>was installed on<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2385\">The Pearls building above Doppio Zero<\/strong>.
