The uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct (UUIP) is pleased to announce the commencement of an enhanced beach cleaning initiative aimed at maintaining the pristine beauty of our coastline.

Since the 1st of May, a dedicated team, increased from two to six cleaners has been diligently litter picking our beaches from 6 am onwards. This early morning cleaning effort is complemented by the assistance of municipal staff during the day, ensuring that our beaches remain clean and inviting throughout the day.

Dewet Geldenhuys, Precinct Manager of the uMhlanga UIP, played a pivotal role in facilitating and orientating the new cleaning staff. Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Geldenhuys emphasized its importance in enhancing the experience of early morning promenade and beach users, including tourists, visitors, residents, and the general public.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of our beloved beaches,” said Mr. Geldenhuys. “By starting the beach cleaning process at 6 am, we aim to significantly improve the experience of everyone who enjoys our stunning coastline.”

In addition to the morning cleaning team, the UIP has also implemented additional nightshift cleaners and appointed dedicated supervisors for both the Promenade and Village precincts, further bolstering efforts to keep our beaches pristine.

The UIP extends its appreciation to all stakeholders, including members of the public, residents, and the municipality, for their continued support in preserving the natural beauty of uMhlanga Rocks.
